I suppose for the first blog post on this site, it makes sense to talk a little about who I am, what I enjoy and why I’m here (without it being a bit too wishy-washy).

I believe firmly that you have to do what you love, and love what you do. Some people love writing, so they become writers. Others love computers and become software engineers, cyber security specialists and so on. I love art, so I chose to become an artist.

I actually studied Computer Forensics, I have a BSc in it as a matter of fact. The thing is, I realised probably halfway through my degree that I didn’t want to stare at a screen for 8 hours a day. I even worked in a corporate office for a year and it just didn’t feel right. I guarantee there will be people I knew from work, uni and other walks of life who probably think I’ve wasted my time and money on my degree. I personally disagree.

Why work all day in a job you hate? Why spend your evenings and weekends dreading the return to the office? Because the money is good? I just couldn’t do it. BUT, that’s just me! What’s more, if I hadn’t gone to uni and tried it, I would never have rediscovered my passion and drive for art (and my utter hatred for the cushy 9-5).

Working in an office staring at a computer screen and being pressured to work harder for clients just wan’t my cup of tea, and that’s fine. Some people live for that, and that’s fine. I suppose in a roundabout way what I’m saying is, just make sure you’re doing what you love.

You’re only on the planet once, and I know I certainly don’t want to waste my time here.
